Winter Wonderland

Posted on by Angela Kauffman

Snow has been falling all day here in Illinois.  For many, that would mean the perfect opportunity to snuggle inside a warm home.  But for me, that meant braving the weather (and the roads!) to go 'picture hunting.'  I went to one of my favorite spots - a nearby lake - to see what kind of winter wonderland I could find.  I was the only soul there (of course, because everyone else was snuggled inside their warm homes) and the quietness seemed so loud.  In fact, it was so quiet that I jumped a couple of times at the startling sound of animals popping in and out of the icy lake.  But the quietness of a snowfall brings so much serenity and peace with it, don't you agree?

2016 Calendars Are Here!

Posted on by Angela Kauffman

I've been working around the clock (well it has felt a tad bit like that at least) on the new 2016 desk calendars.  I'm excited to show you the finished product!  They are now up in the Etsy shop and come in either a 5x7" or a mini 4x6" size.  Their loose, unbound pages feature photographs that you can cut off and display after the year is through.  They make a great holiday gift for someone you love (including yourself!).  I hope they make your home a bit happier all year through!

Three styles to choose from >>

The Journey's Eye "Globetrotting" Calendar:

"To The Sea" (because I think most of us would welcome the warmth and serenity of the beach year-round):

Or "Wild Wild West" featuring photos from the gorgeous Southwest:

The Power of Love

Posted on by Angela Kauffman

I cannot think of a happier place to be than atop a mountain on a gorgeous evening during sunset - especially if that sunset is being viewed in Arizona.  The sunsets there are not messing around.  Talk about incredible.

One evening, I was enjoying such a sunset and noticed a couple of lovebirds were doing the same.  My first reaction was of course to capture the loving scene with my camera.  If these images don't just ooze romance to you, than I don't know what will!

Last Days of Summer

Posted on by Angela Kauffman

As we squeeze the last few days out of summer, one last visit to the beach is a must.  Most people don't think of gorgeous beaches (or any beaches at all) when they think of the Midwest, but the Great Lakes surprisingly provide miles of beautiful shoreline.  Over Labor Day weekend, I was able to spend a little time on the beaches of Chicago.  The beaches there serve as a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.  A bit of paradise along the water...

Peace

Posted on by Angela Kauffman

Well, this has been one crazy day.  Here in Illinois, we had massive storms and tornados pass through.  Very strange for mid-November, but you never really know what Midwest weather will bring.  It seems to change by the hour.  The storms left so much devastation.  In just my area, I believe I heard that more than 300 homes were leveled.  Please keep these families in your prayers, and if you'd like to donate funds to the Red Cross to help, you can find information here.

After the stormy weather today and the recent events in the Philippines, I crave some peace.  Sitting by a sea, walking through a garden, feeling the sun on my face, or hearing the soft, gentle sounds of nature sound mighty good right about now.  You agree?  Do you have a favorite place that you like to go to wind-down?  I'd love to hear about it in the comments below!  I gathered up a few (very) random pictures from around the globe that just ooze 'serenity' to me.  So let's take a relaxing look...
